OUR PROGRAMS
Senior Saddles
A Morning of Friendship, Purpose, and Connection
What is Senior Saddles?
Senior Saddles is a special outreach program that brings residents from local nursing homes to Rising Hope Farms for a relaxing morning of interaction with our horses.
Rather than riding, participants spend time brushing, grooming, petting, and learning about the horses while enjoying fresh air, conversation, and fellowship. Many visitors also participate in seasonal crafts or simple activities designed to encourage smiles, memories, and connection.
Every visit is adapted to the abilities and comfort level of each guest, creating an experience that is welcoming, safe, and enjoyable.
Why Horses?
For many older adults, simply touching a horse, smelling the barn, or hearing the gentle sounds of the farm can awaken memories from years past. Those moments often lead to stories, laughter, conversation, and meaningful social interaction.
Time spent with the horses encourages movement, reduces isolation, and provides an opportunity to enjoy nature in a peaceful setting surrounded by caring volunteers.
Benefits of Every Visit
Every visit offers opportunities for connection, purpose, and joy. Through meaningful interactions with horses, volunteers, and nature, our guests experience moments that encourage conversation, awaken memories, and remind them they are an important part of our community.
